First Lines Friday

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

If his mother didn’t stop talking, Will Masters was going to say or do something he’d regret. His head hurt from one too many drinks the night before, thanks to his now-former best friend Ted, and he had too much shit on his plate today to deal with his mother’s passive aggressive smiles and fussing. Eleanor Masters was, after all, the queen of passive aggressive fussing.
